After completing his LLB Law and LLM in International and European Law in the UK, Vivek got straight into banking. After initial training with the Halifax Bank of Scotland, Vivek joined HSBC and was with them for almost 15 years. At HSBC, he worked initially in the Wealth Management business in London but the majority of his tenure was in International Compliance in a number of jurisdictions including the UK, Sri Lanka, India, United Arab Emirates and the USA. Vivek’s experience in Compliance has been quite wide, ranging from setting up and leading the Compliance function in the outsourced entities in Sri Lanka and India, to managing the regional Securities Services Compliance function in the Middle East and Africa region and subsequently in North and South America.
After a relatively short stint with Bank of New York Mellon in London, Vivek joined Standard Chartered Bank in May 2017 to lead the Regional Transaction Banking Compliance team in the Africa and Middle East region.
Vivek holds an International Diploma in Compliance and is a Fellow Member of the International Compliance Association (FICA). He is also a US Certified Corporate Trust Specialist (CCTS) and a Member of the American Institute of Certified Bankers.

Leago joined the DFSA in June 2018 to focus on the DFSA’s Client Assets Regulatory framework.
His responsibilities include the creation of dedicated Client Assets Supervisory processes, enhancement to the Client Assets regulatory provisions, overseeing the remediation of Client Assets risks at authorised firms and delivery of training in order to ensure a consistency in the understanding of Client Assets risk within the Dubai International Financial Centre.
Prior to joining the DFSA, Mr Papo held numerous roles within global investment banks, relating to the stewardship of Client Assets held in jurisdictions across Europe, Asia, Middle East and North America. Although a Client Assets specialist, Mr Papo has spent the majority of his career managing regulatory risks across both Investment Banking and Wealth Management business models and product offerings.
Leago holds a Bachelor of Business Science Finance Honours degree from the University of Cape Town, and a Diploma in Investment Compliance from the CISI.

Dr. John Raines serves as the head of Political Risk at IHS Markit, a global intelligence firm based in London, where he manages political risk materials production.

As IHS Markit’s lead analyst for United States foreign and domestic policy, Dr. Raines has appeared in numerous media outlets, from CNN, BBC, CNBC, The New York Times, The Washington Post, NPR and The Associated Press, amongst many others. In his previous work experience with the U.S. Department of State, he held roles responsible for conducting economic policy for the United States Embassy in Panama and overseeing the American Citizen Services unit in Hong Kong. He also worked at the World Bank, where he managed several projects in production of the World Development Indicators (WDI). His other assignments have included the U.S. Department of the Treasury, the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) and the World Trade Center. He earned a Ph.D. in political science from Ohio State University and a master's degree in international relations from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Study (SAIS).

H.E. Abdullah Salim Al-Salmi was appointed as the Executive President of Capital Market Authority in 2012. H.E. had been the executive vice president of CMA since 1999.
Prior to joining the Capital Market Authority, H.E. Al Salmi was the Director of Company Affairs Department at the Ministry of Commerce & Industry. In 1997, H.E. Al Salmi served as the Secretary of Commercial Registration at the Ministry of Commerce & Industry and in 1991, H.E. Al Salmi was the Director of Internal Trade Department of the Ministry of Commerce & Industry.

H.E. Al Salmi is the Founding member and board member of the German University of Technology in Oman (GUtech). H.E. also served as the Chairman of the board of Oman Investment Corporation SAOC since its inception in 2005 until 15th May 2010 & Chairman of the Muscat Securities Market, (MSM) June, 2002 to April 2008. He is currently the chairman of Oman Governance and Sustainability Centre and Oman Development Bank. Additionally, he is a member in the committee working on vision 2040 and the Joint Committee of Financial Stability. He is also member of several other significant committees.

Eric Salomons is a Director and head of the DFSA Markets division and has developed his career in derivatives and securities markets over the past 20 years He has been involved in derivatives arbitrage, risk management and regulation. Eric has further gained wide ranging and valuable experience of exchange operations, clearing houses and settlement systems as project manager for licensing and supervision of markets in Europe and the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC). Eric is a Member of the IOSCO committee for secondary markets and of the DFSA Executive Committee.

Prior to joining the DFSA, Eric worked at the Dutch financial services regulator (AFM) and was responsible for exchange regulation and a member of the Euronext College of Regulators.

Eric started his career as a derivatives market maker on the Euronext exchange floor and Eurex for Amsterdam Option Traders (AOT). He is registered with the
Dutch Securities Institute since 2000 and is a Member of the Global Association of Risk Managers.

Meanwhile, he is a Chairman at Armenian Institute of Independent Directors, Co-Chairman of Investment Bankers Club, a Board Member at the Fund for Rural Economic Development in Armenia (FREDA), Member of Angel Investors Club of Armenia.
Konstantin participated in Working groups of USAID, UNDP, OECD and other international organizations as an expert of capital market and he is currently teaching in French University of Armenia Foundation.

Gunsel is Head of the Securities Services business at Citi for MEA (Middle East & Africa) and RUKIT (Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Israel, Turkey). He leads the DCC (Direct Custody & Clearing) teams serving global custodians and international broker dealers of the world across 15 markets. He is based in Istanbul and also serves as Executive Vice-President at Citi Turkey franchise.

Gunsel works closely with stock exchanges, central counterparty clearing Houses (CCPs), central securities depositories (CSDs), and regulatory institutions across MEARUKIT countries; and he supports the drive for the regional capital market development and implementation of best practices.

He is a frequent speaker at industry events including the Network Forum and the Association of Middle East and Africa Central Securities Depositories (AMEDA). He is an active member of the Turkish Capital Markets Association.

Gunsel takes a special interest in motivation and team building and leadership development. He developed a workshop named ‘Best of You’ and hosted various sessions at Citi, as well as at ‘Citi affiliated institutions’ such as AmCham, Junior Achievement and Universities, in a number of cities. He served as the President of Bosphorus Toastmasters 2016 – 2017, receiving the International Toastmasters’ Competent Communicator Certificate in 2016.

Gunsel holds a B.Sc. degree in computer engineering and M.Sc. degrees in money and banking, and international banking and finance, as well as a Ph.D. degree in corporate finance.

Yasser has over 27 years of experience in the securities industry including operations, account management, relationship management. He has been with Qatar National Bank Al-Ahli since 2014. Prior to this position, Yasser was the Head of Securities Services at National Société Générale Bank, as well as SGSS Country Manager – Egypt, and Regional director of Northern Africa , looking after Tunisia and Morocco. In addition, and since 2012 to present , he is a member of the board of directors of MCDR – the Egyptian Central Securities Depository representing the market custodians.
