Bernie Chew, joined Northern Trust in February 2007, managing a team of professionals as the Head of the
Sub-Custodian Network Management for the Asia Pacific region. He has responsibility for the management
of the due diligence, monitoring and relationships of the sub-custody and cash providers in the region.

He acted as the 2012/2013 Chairperson of the Association of Global Custodian’s ("AGC") Asia Committee in
Singapore, working with a team from member banks to assist with the review & analysis of Asia Pacific
issues and developments; and providing updates to the AGC.

Michael A. Drake has been with BBH for over 22 years and is currently Head of Global Subcustodian Relationship Management within NCRM. Focused on subcustodian strategy, appointment, service delivery and due diligence, Mr. Drake leads a global team of Network Relationship Managers with an emphasis on risk assessment, robust monitoring practices and oversight of more than 175 subcustodian and counterparty bank relationships.
Michael’s experience at BBH includes heading the Network Registration team, Systemic product design, development and implementation, managing various Network Regional Market teams, Client Sales and Relationship Management for Fund clients, and various supervisory roles within Operations.

Mike is based in Hong Kong and leads the team responsible for oversight of J.P. Morgan’s relationships with subcustodians across Asia Pacific.

Mike has been with J.P. Morgan since 1994 in various roles across finance, operations, client management and operational risk management between New York and Hong Kong. Mike joined the Asia Pacific Network Management team in 2012 spending four years as a network manager and two years managing Network Client Consulting before taking on his current role in 2018.

Over the last 29 years Brian has held a number of senior leadership positions across the Financial Services industry having worked predominantly for Morgan Stanley and HSBC. Brian’s experience has covered a number of roles and asset classes within the Global Markets Operations division across these firms; and more recently over the last 5 years taking on roles within the Securities Services business.
Brian’s last role for HSBC was as the Regional Head of the Securities Services business for Asia Pacific and the Middle East; based in Hong Kong for the last three years.
After 29 years Brian is now working on a number of projects across the industry to put that knowledge and experience to good use, which includes spending more time providing life coaching for senior executives in the industry.

An experienced securities industry professional, Paul is a regular conference speaker, panelist and frequent contributor to the industry media. Based in Singapore since 2005, Paul is currently responsible for HSBC’s APAC Securities & Cash Network Management & Market Intelligence function, covering Group businesses for Global Banking & Markets, Global Private Bank and Retail Bank Wealth Management.

Prior to this, Paul was the Asia Regional President of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI). Paul also has experience as COO of a boutique alternative investment firm after having been Regional Sub-Custody Product Head for JPMorgan Chase Bank N.A. where he was developing an Asia Pacific business from Singapore. Paul moved to Asia in 2003 as the Global Head, Securities Services with Standard Chartered Bank, where he was responsible for the end to end product and business segment, overall strategic direction, leadership and development of Asian Regional Securities Services, with its customer base extending to North America, Europe, Middle East and Asia.

Prior to The Network Forum, he was Head Of Sales & Business Development at a major media organisation, with a personal focus on mutual funds, securities services and private equity, and has also served as an independent advisor to a number of different organisations in financial media, recruitment and industry support.

Michael Lai is a banking professional with nearly 20 years of experience within the Operations function and has lead the Network Management team for Barclays in the APAC since 2011.
Based in Hong Kong, he is responsible for the relationships with custodian and cash correspondent bank network.
He has recently been given additional responsibilities and is Co-Head of Greater China Operations and Prime Middle Office Asia.

Based in Hong Kong, Lisa experience is across Banking and Financial Technology. She currently has a global role as the Head of Capital Markets Strategy that focuses on new products and markets for SWIFT.

In previous roles at SWIFT, Lisa managed a team that provided consulting to Financial Markets Infrastructures and ISO Standards expertise. Prior to SWIFT, Lisa was at Standard Chartered Bank in Hong Kong where she was the Head of Securities Service and Head of SS & CAT Product for GCNA. At Standard Chartered Bank, Lisa also held a role in Client Coverage for RMB Solutions where she worked with Financial Institutions on their China Access. Lisa has also held roles at various Financial Technology companies.

Lisa holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Syracuse University and an MBA for Financial Professionals from Manchester Business School.

Kayvon Pirestani is a Director within Coinbase’s Institutional division, which includes the Prime trading platform and Coinbase Custody. Kayvon leads the company’s institutional business for the entire Asia region. Before joining Coinbase, Kayvon ran the Japan OTC equity derivatives sales desk for Morgan Stanley where he marketed structured volatility and synthetic equity products to global institutional investors. Prior to Morgan Stanley, Kayvon was at Deutsche Bank in Hong Kong where he put together some of Asia’s largest-ever equity options transactions. Kayvon received his MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and his Bachelor’s of Science in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. Kayvon has been investing in cryptocurrencies since 2013.

Tess is the President and Chief Operating Officer of Philippine Depository and Trust Corp. (PDTC), the country’s CSD for the equities and fixed income securities markets. Concurrently, Tess is the President and COO of the Philippine Securities Settlement Corporation (PSSC) which provides the payments infrastructure for the fixed income and currency markets in the country. Both entities are subsidiaries of the Philippine Dealing System Holdings Corporation (PDS).
She represents the Philippine depository in the Asian Bond Market Forum, the Cross Border Settlement Infrastructure Forum, the Asia-Pacific CSD Group and recently, in the Asian Fund Standardization Forum where PDTC is the newest member of the group.
