Gareth Allison is an Executive Director and Head of Client Coverage for Sub-Saharan Africa. He is responsible for MSCI’s business development and coverage for all client types in Sub-Saharan Africa, based in Cape Town.

Gareth joined MSCI in 2007 and prior to joining MSCI worked at Wilshire as a Managing Director responsible for business development in EMEA. At Wilshire, he covered different territories in EMEA.

Prior to Wilshire, Gareth worked in various business development roles including for Bloomberg LP, covering French & Italian speaking territories in Switzerland and for Tullett & Tokyo as an Italian Government Bond Broker. Prior to this, Gareth was a professional Rugby Union player for NEC Harlequins in London and Clermont in France. During this time Gareth also represented England 'A'.

Sarah is an economist on the Africa Research team at Standard Chartered based in London. Her role includes producing macroeconomic analysis on African economies and interacting with bank management, clients, policy makers and the media. Prior to joining the Bank, Sarah was based in Beijing, where she studied Mandarin and produced research for Beijing-based European Commission projects. She holds a Master’s degree in Chinese Economy from Fudan University, Shanghai, and obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Bristol, UK. Sarah speaks English and Mandarin. She is a CFA charterholder.

Wayne holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree from the University of Johannesburg and is a seasoned business professional with over 24 years working experience, including 20 years experience in management roles in the Investment Banking and Financial Services industries, both locally and abroad with domestic as well as multi-national organisations.

In 2009, Wayne joined Rand Merchant Bank where he was appointed to head up Securities Lending and Borrowing Operations and later in an acting capacity headed up the SLB business until his departure in 2010 when he was approached by Nedbank Capital (now Nedbank CIB) to head their newly formed Prime Broking business.

Since October 2017, Wayne has served jointly as Securities Services Head for South Africa and as Securities Services and Corporate Agency and Trust Manager for South & Southern Africa.

Nicholas Bone founded EquiChain in 2016 and currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer. He has over 20 years’ global banking expertise spanning operations, product development, network management, sales and relationship management, with a specialism in emerging markets.

Bone is known as a thought-leader and strategic thinker on Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT), capital markets and securities services, having gained broad experience across transaction, investment and central banking.

He has previously served at the Bank of England, Deutsche Bank, BNY Mellon and most recently at Standard Chartered as an executive director. Bone was a member of the ISSA working group on DLT and a judge on SWIFT’s Innotribe 2016 DLT Challenge

Kevin was raised in SA, Australia and the UK and has a business studies honours degree from the London Metropolitan University. Kevin started his career as a trainee portfolio manager at FirstCorp Investment Bank before joining institutional stock broker Barnard Jacobs Mellet (BJM). He worked at BJM for 8 years and was head of equity trading and a director. Kevin then moved to Investec where he spent a total of 12 years, 9 of these as a director and head of the Investec Institutional Securities and Prime Broking division.

Charl Bruyns is the Head of Investor Services at Standard Bank South Africa. Investor Services is a leading provider of custody, trustee services, securities lending, derivatives clearing and investment administration services to local and foreign institutional investors. Charl also heads the Financial Institutions Franchise for Standard Bank’s transaction bank services. He has held roles as CFO, COO for Standard Bank’s Transactional Products and Services business and Head of Africa Treasury. Prior to joining Standard Bank , Charl has held executive management roles at STANLIB.

Meagen joined Prudential as Chief Operating Officer in August 2011. She began her career with KPMG in January 1997 and moved with their Information Risk Management department to London in 2000. In 2001, she moved to Goldman Sachs as a senior associate in their Management Controls Division. In 2003, she joined JP Morgan; initially as an audit partner in their General Audit Division and subsequently as business manager in Investment Banking Operations. In 2009, she moved back to South Africa with JP Morgan, where she was the Head of Operations for their Investment Services Division.

Meagen is a member of the Prudential Portfolio Managers (SA) (Pty) Ltd. Board, Prudential Investment Managers (SA) (Pty) Ltd. Board, the Board Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee, Fair Value Committee, New Product Committee and IT Risk Committee.

Hari has more than 23 years of Securities Services industry experience during which he has held senior positions at Deutsche Bank in India, Indonesia and the Asia Pacific regional office in Singapore.

He subsequently joined HSBC Equities South Africa as an Equities Analyst for five years. Paul then joined the African Alliance Group in 2004 as Head of Research and was instrumental in the launch of the Africa Pioneer Fund in June 2007. He was the lead Fund Manager on the fund until December 2011. Paul holds a BEng degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Stellenbosch as well as a BCom degree in Accounting from the University of the Witwatersrand. Strate (Pty) Limited (Strate) has been authorised as South Africa’s Central Securities Depository (CSD) by the Financial Services Board (FSB). Beverley serves as an Executive Member of Strate and holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of the Witwatersrand. She joined Strate in 2001 where she helped create the STRATE Supervision division.
In August 2016, Beverley assumed the position of Managing Executive: CSD Operations, Strate responsible for managing the Custody and Settlement, Product Development, Project Management Office and Strate Collateral Management Services divisions of Strate.

Whilst at Strate, she has represented the company at various international and national conferences and symposiums on various topics including settlement efficiency and role of the CSD, risk management, Crisis Preparedness, Self-Regulatory Organisations, compliance and Collateral Management.
